We are once again introducing First Friday events and reconnecting to those that call Polson home.
First Friday events offer an excellent opportunity for the public to stay engaged with their downtown Polson community and each other. Extended store hours and events encourage Polson residents to come out, explore businesses, shop small, and to socialize with their neighbors and community. There are many ways local businesses can motivate the public to come out: display artwork and host an opening for local artists, offer small bites and treats or cocktails, run exclusive First Friday savings and deals, the sky’s the limit! First Fridays demonstrate that downtown Polson is not just stand-alone establishments but a hub of community entrepreneurs supporting and celebrating one another in an evening of festivities!
First Fridays take place between 5 pm-7 pm on the first Friday of the month, and during June-August will shift to 11 am-2 pm. Consistency is key! If you want to help grow this as a monthly event, you are encouraged to participate every month. Starting it now with our local residents is a great way to establish it as an event series and strengthen it as a calendar event for summer tourism and seasonal visitors. We want Polson to stand out among our neighboring small towns. Let’s show how much pride we have in Polson and all the charm our lakeside town can offer.
Most First Fridays in other cities function as a free art walk. There are many ways for business owners to design their First Friday evening, but we do encourage connections with artists and creative ways to showcase all the abundant talent and beauty in Western Montana.
